ZMPP available on Amazon and Kindle Fire

I am overjoyed to announce that ZMPP is available on Amazon’s Appstore and for the Kindle Fire for a couple of days now. I wanted to take the opportunity to say thank you to Amazon’s Appstore team for the quick approval time, getting ZMPP approved makes me very proud.

I believe that the tablet form factor is a great way to enjoy Interactive Fiction and hope that ZMPP can contribute a little to introduce IF to a wider audience.

I agree that tablets are a great way to go for IF. In ancient times I worked on a number of titles – Valkyrie 17, Three Days in Carpathia etc. I’m working with Inform at the mo and would like to release a standalone game for Android. Is there any way that this could be achieved? In other words, one file, for sale, on the app store. I’d be very happy to discuss a revenue split if the millions start rolling in.

    Best Regards,

Hi, I am an Amiga user and I have seen your youtube video on the Gotek drive emulator. I was very impressed because if I have well understood you use paper clip as pins. Don’t you? So if I well undesratnd by this way it is possible to avoid the soldering of pin headers onto the Gotek. Isn’t it? Please send me an email message to confirm that. It could be also useful a youtube video through which you can show that more in detail.
Thanks a lot for your attention and consideration.

I’ve downloaded ZMPP on my Kindle Fire HD, but I can’t for the life of me figure out how to add game files from my own collection. There doesn’t seem to be any Help or Documentation section in the app itself, so just wondering if you could point me in the right direction?

I don’t own a Kindle Fire HD, but there is actually a help option. It can only guess that it is not available because of the lack of a menu button. There are 2 ways to get games onto your device:

    1. Download through ZMPP: enter the name or the beginning of the name into the search field. If ZMPP knows it, you can download it from the Interactive Fiction Archive by tapping on it.

    2. Download the Z story games to your computer and transfer it to the device’s zmpp/zstories directory. When ZMPP is started the first time, it should create that directory on your device, in this case your Kindle.

Hope this works for you, best,
